After posting pictures of my
felt heart bookmarks, I have received several emails and comments from readers asking for more details about how I made them, and if there was a pattern for the bookmarks on my blog. I never dreamed that there would be so much interest in my little project, but it has pushed me into learning how to make a pattern download.
So today I am happy to offer you a free pattern download for these little cuties. My brother,
Daniel, helped me figure this out. He's a pretty awesome
web designer!
Go here to download your felt heart bookmark pattern, or click on the picture below.
Okay, now that you have the pattern let's talk about putting this bookmark together. If you want to learn how to make a
lazy daisy like I put on mine, take a look at this diagram from Wee Folk Art's
stitch glossary. (By the way,
Wee Folk Art has a lot of fun projects to make with felt!)
Step one
Step two
I used
running stitch to make a circle around the lazy daisy, and to sew my bookmark together. When sewing the two hearts together at the bottom, make straight lines of stitching. If you start sewing around the curve, you won't be able to slide it onto a book page. Again, this diagram is from
Wee Folk Art.
Let me know if you make some
felt heart bookmarks.
It would be fun to see the colors and embroidery designs you come up with.
I am planning to whip some of these up for little
Valentine's Day gifts.
Thank you for reading!
